Many aspiring musicians want to learn how to play the electric guitar. If you're one of them, you will need some instruction. Most electric guitars are either solidbody, semi-hollowbody or chambered. The best type of guitar for the beginner is probably the solidbody. If you are unsure of what kind of guitar you want, try various models out at the music store before deciding. You want something that feels comfortable and sounds good. You will also need a strap so that you can comfortably wear and hold your guitar, as well as a case to transport and protect your guitar when not in use.

Learning how to play the electric guitar is a rewarding pursuit for many musicians. You will need to learn how to read guitar tablature and sheet music. Once you feel confident reading music, you might also want to try playing by ear. There are a variety of talented and successful musicians who prefer playing by ear as opposed to reading music. Like any skill, playing guitar takes patience and practice to master but is well worth the effort!
